Taipei Living

Hi, I'm Melissa! I live in Taipei and take way too many pictures of it.

Sometimes certain things piss me off.

Miniature rant:

I’ve lived in Taiwan for a year (exactly, on this coming Friday - wow).  I’ve gotten quite used to being stared at by the locals because I’m, well, different looking.  Most of the time I shrug off the staring because, like I said, I’m very used to it by now, and I understand why it happens - Taipei has very few foreigners compared to the larger cities in Asia such as Tokyo, Seoul, and Hong Kong.  It’s just not as common to see non-Asian people walking around, so it’s natural to be curious when they are.  I completely understand that.

However, today, for reasons unknown, I was in a horrible mood as I walked home from my Mandarin class it NTNU, and it just seemed like I received more stares than usual. And because of my horrible mood, it really freaking pissed me off.  IT REALLY SUCKED.  Seriously.

Walking near NTNU?  Stares.  Buying a drink at 7-Eleven?  Stares.  Riding on the MRT?  Stares.  Sitting at the bus stop near my house?  Stares.

I just need to go to sleep now.  I’m sure that tomorrow it won’t bug me at all, but that’s just how it goes, right?
