Hi, I'm Melissa! I live in Taipei and take way too many pictures of it.
Night market food. Chicken toast?
I discovered this song about 100 years after everyone else, but I love it nonetheless.
Smith & Hsu is one of my favorite restaurants in Tianmu (I’m sure they have many other locations). You get to smell samples of each tea before you choose which one you want them to make for you, which is fun, and the food and desserts are delicious!
So I tried a new restaurant today. Macho Tacos is located just off of Yanji Street, in between the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall and Zhongxiao Dunhua MRT Stations in Taipei. It’s a super cool restaurant itself - the staff is friendly and with great English (greatly helpful to me with my awful Mandarin), and the interior is appropriately themed with abundant masked luchadores and a Corona bottle chandelier - and the food was great too! I ordered three chicken tacos that were absolutely covered in salsa and super yummy and super messy to eat, but isn’t all Mexican food? Random side note: I also tried 蘋果蘇打 (apple soda) and now have the strong opinion that apple should not be a soda flavor. It just doesn’t work.
Anyway, I really enjoyed this place. I’ll definitely be heading back there sometime this summer, partially because it was good and I have frequent cravings for Mexican food, but also because I love that area of Taipei :)
Here’s a crappy picture taken with my phone because I left my camera at home:
